Harry Redknapp has revealed to Stadium Astro that Tottenham Hotspur insiders are raving about Carlos Vinicius to him.

Vinicius has had a difficult time at Spurs, with Jose Mourinho barely picking him in the Premier League so far.

Even on Thursday night against Liverpool, when Harry Kane went off injured, Mourinho opted to move Heung-Min Son into a central role for Tottenham rather than use Vinicius off the bench.

There are now concerns that the Brazilian may simply not be showing enough quality to convince Mourinho that he is ready to lead the line for Spurs.

However, Redknapp says that Tottenham staff have told him that Vincius has actually really impressed them since his arrival on loan from Benfica in the summer.

“They tell me the Brazilian boy is a fantastic player, the centre forward, people at the club,” Redknapp said.

“He was the leading scoring in Portugal last year and people tell me he’s a top, top player.

“Maybe it’s a chance to play him now.”

With Kane out now does indeed seem as good a time as any to give Vinicius a run of games.

However, Mourinho’s decision to overlook him in midweek hardly breeds confidence that he will immediately come into Tottenham’s line-up.

Spurs’s next game comes tomorrow, when they take on Brighton & Hove Albion.
