Martin Keown has hailed Gabriel Martinelli is a ‘great signing’ by Arsenal on BT Sport.

Arsenal have a clutch of exciting prospects coming though at the moment, with Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe taking all the headlines recently.

But Keown was keen to remind everyone about Martinelli’s talents, and was quick to praise Unai Emery for bringing him to the club.

“A real talent, he’s another one,” Keown said, as Martinelli appeared on the sideline last night.

“He’s a great signing by the way. They are just trying to nurture him back him, he’s had a lot of injuries, but will be raring to go now.”

Arsenal only paid £6 million for Martinelli (Goal), and that deal now looks like a huge bargain.

The Brazilian enjoyed a wonderful first season at the Emirates Stadium, although his progress has been slowed by injury.

Martinelli is now being eased back into life by Arsenal, but he could still have an important role to play.

With Pierre Emerick Aubameyang ruled out, there is a space in Arsenal’s squad down the left.

And Martinelli may well receive some game time in the coming weeks, as Mikel Arteta looks to get the prospect up to full speed again.
