According to Sky Sports, Liverpool could complete the signing of Derby wonderkid Kaide Gordon as early as today.
The Reds have already agreed a £3 million fee with the Rams, and have beaten Manchester United to the teenager’s signature.
Wayne Rooney amazingly handed Gordon his Championship debut against Birmingham last month, having initially invited him to first-team training to merely cast an eye over him.
The Derby boss said that the incoming Liverpool forward, who Sky Sports say can play anywhere across the frontline, ended up training better than some first-team figures.
Sadly for the Rams, it looks like they’ve already lost their prodigious talent.
So, what type of player is Gordon, you may be wondering?
Well, the Liverpool Echo recently had a chat with Jack Hasler, who has covered Derby’s youth sides over the years.
Hasler interestingly likened Gordon to Mohamed Salah.
The Liverpool Echo quote the Derby youth expert as saying: “If he was to bulk up a bit, he could, in terms of a Liverpool player, be similar to Salah in that he has that left foot that is really special.”
While some Liverpool fans might be nonplussed by this news as a centre-back remains the priority, they should definitely still feel excited.
With Gordon on one wing, and Harvey Elliott on the other, the Reds already possess two prospects who could go on to become England’s best in their positions.
