Darren Bent said on talkSPORT (8:38am, January 26, 2021) that Celtic would be a good club for Frank Lampard to manage, but warned the former Chelsea boss about the challenge to finish above Rangers.

Lampard is without a managerial job at the moment, having been dismissed by Premier League giants Chelsea on Monday.

The former England international midfielder is being touted for the managerial role at Celtic.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United manager Harry Redknapp thinks that Celtic could appeal to Lampard, as quoted in The Daily Record.

Current manager Neil Lennon is under pressure, according to talkSPORT, with the team set to lose the Scottish Premiership title to bitter Old Firm rivals Rangers this season.

Former Tottenham striker Bent believes that Celtic would be a good club to manage for his English compatriot Lampard.

Bent said on talkSPORT (8:38am, January 26, 2021): “Celtic, Rangers, two massive clubs. Frank had a season at Derby, gone to Chelsea, it has been difficult for him, but going to somewhere like a Celtic as well, obviously massive football club, big fanbase, in the hunt to win trophies every single season.

“I think it would do him some good, you know, win some games. Listen, I know there’s a lot of pressure up there considering you have got to finish above Rangers and vice-versa and I understand that, but look at the time that Steven Gerrard was given at Rangers and look how good they have become. If Frank is given the same time at Celtic, that would be superb.”

Steven Gerrard v Frank Lampard rivalry in Scotland

Liverpool legend Gerrard, now the manager of Rangers, and Lampard were England international teammates, but they were rivals at club level.

The duo could bring the same intensity and passion to the already heated rivalry between Celtic and Rangers if Lampard is appointed the manager of the Hoops.

At this point, there is no suggestion that Celtic are actively looking to move on Lennon and bring in Lampard, but it would be mouth-watering if he is in the dugout at Celtic Park next season.
