If you think you’re too cool for gymnastics, then watch Nia Dennis’ routine featuring songs by the most popular hip-hop artists.
UCLA gymnastics tweeted the routine of Nia at the Pac-12 women’s gymnastics meet and the video has gone viral, with over five million views in less than 24 hours.
The routine features music from Kendrick Lamar, Souljia Boy, Missy Elliot and Megan Thee Stallion, as a tribute to black artists.
Who is Nia Dennis?
The 21-year-old athlete is from Columbus, Ohio and was born February 23rd 1999. She began studying at UCLA in 2017.
Her parents, Casey and Deetra, saw the gymnastics potential in her when she was young because she was always playing around on monkey bars.
Outside of the gym, her hobbies include cooking and nail art and her favourite movie is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. When she’s not training, she enjoys binge-watching Dance Moms.
Her career began in 2010, where she placed 2nd in the Covergirl Classic
10-11 Hopes Division.
She established herself at the Senior International Elite Level in 2015 when she competed in the US National Gymnastics Championships against Olympians Aly Raisman and Simone Biles.
Nia Dennis’ other viral routine
Nia isn’t new to the viral fame, as she went viral in 2020 with a floor routine featuring Beyoncé tracks. Like this year, every landing seems to be perfect and she’s proved that not only can she flip, she can dance too.
Both Alicia Keys and Vice President Kamala Harris noticed the performance and tweeted about it too:
