The wait is almost over.

The Times claims that Martin Odegaard’s move to Arsenal could well be announced today, with the deal all agreed.

Arsenal have taken Odegaard on loan, after tying up a deal worth £2.5 million.

Odegaard is on a £38,000-a-week contract at Madrid, which Arsenal will cover in full.

The Gunners will also pay a fee of £1.8 million to take the Norwegian until the end of the season.

Unfortunately for Arsenal they have no option to make the move permanent, though.

Arsenal could not agree a future fee, as Madrid were reluctant to let the Norwegian go.

The Times claim that the Madrid transfer chiefs feel that Odegaard could still have a future at the Bernabeu under a different manager, and with Zinedine Zidane under pressure, they were not willing to risk losing the youngster.

Despite that Odegaard looks to be a smart addition to Mikel Arteta’s side.

The 21-year-old should add further creativity to Arsenal’s ranks, and will push Emile Smith Rowe for a place in Arteta’s side’s starting line-up.
