Rangers supporters have been savouring an outlandish article from a rival fan

It’s been a source of amusement among Scottish football observers in recent years that, even when Celtic were dominant, a certain element of their support would obsess over Rangers.
That obsession has intensified of late, as what was expected to be the 10-in-a-row season has instead been a campaign that’s lurched from one crisis to another.
With Celtic out of three competitions and 23 points behind Steven Gerrard’s men in the title race, it’s clear that not all of their fans are taking it well.
Enter ‘The Celtic Blog’. A prolific writer on the subject of ‘Sevco’, this blogger plumbed/reached new depths/heights on Sunday with the publication of an article entitled ‘Ibrox days of hope or an Ibrox haze of dope’.
Without dwelling on the bizarre contents for too long, its author managed to mention Rangers, doping and…caffeine. All, presumably, with a straight face.
Ibrox legend Mark Hateley was clearly informed of the blog’s contents.
On Monday afternoon, the former Milan and England centre-forward posted an image to Twitter in which he sported a wide grin while holding a cup.
The caption read: “Lovely coffee during day, I’ve heard it’s just what you need….”
Promoting his article, which runs to thousands of words, the author tweeted: “What is Gerrard’s ‘Ibrox revolution’ built on? Hard work and Other People’s Money … or something far darker?”
Following the backlash, he shared the article again and tweeted: “Here’s some clarity on the doping article. The piece does not excuse Celtic’s being s***e and nowhere is the suggestion that Ibrox is involved in ‘cheating’.
“Like financial doping this is all legit. It merely asks a series of questions about a big issue.”
The laughter from Rangers fans in response remains relentless.
