Darren Bent gave his take on talkSPORT (5:55 pm, January 22, 2021) on speculation linking Arsenal with Southampton left-back Ryan Bertrand.
According to The London Evening Standard, Arsenal are considering a move for former Chelsea defender Bertrand.
It has been reported that the Gunners are looking to sign a left-back to provide competition for Keiran Tierney.
The 31-year-old England international is out of contract at Southampton at the end of the season.
Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Bent, who is an Arsenal fan, believes that Bertrand would be a good signing for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The Englishman said about Bertrand on talkSPORT (5:55 pm, January 22, 2021) when asked if he would be a good signing for Arsenal: “On a free yeah, I think so yeah, back-up to Tierney, yeah, different dimensions, so yeah.”
Bent said about Odegaard on talkSPORT (5:55 pm, January 22, 2021): “I have not really seen much of him, but, listen, he is at Madrid. People are speaking really highly about him, so Arsenal get him as well. He is a creative player.”
Good signings for Arsenal?
Both Bertrand and Odegaard would be good signings for Arsenal. While the left-back would make the Gunners better defensively and add depth to the squad, the Norway international would help reduce pressure on fellow attacking midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.
It is unlikely that Southampton will be willing to sell Bertrand in the middle of the season, but Arsenal could wait until the summer of 2021 and snap him up on a free.
