Arsenal are seemingly on the brink of announcing another capture.
The Gunners shocked fans this morning by revealing that they had signed Mat Ryan on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion.
Given there was virtually no speculation about that one happening, a lot of Arsenal fans were surprised.
But the Emirates Stadium club look like giving their fanbase something a lot more exciting to shout about because according to AS, Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard will become their player ‘within hours’.
The 22-year-old has been heavily linked with a loan move to North London in recent days and it would appear as if Arsenal have edged out Real Sociedad, their main competitor, if the report from Spain is true.
Odegaard, who earns £85,000 per week at Real, has struggled for regular football under Zinedine Zidane this season and given that he’s still only 22, playing every week remains key for his development.
If the AS report is accurate and the young Norwegian playmaker joins today, it probably won’t be quick enough to see him involved in tomorrow’s FA Cup tie with Southampton, but the Australian goalkeeper will be available to Mikel Arteta.
