Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur are ready to cut short the loan spell of Gedson Fernandes.
The well-known and well-respected journalist, who works as a pundit for The Guardian and Sky Sports, has claimed on the social networking site that Torino have opened talks to sign the 22-year-old midfielder from Benfica.
Romano has said that Spurs are ready to let the youngster go back to his parent club Benfica so that he can join Torino on loan until the end of the season, adding that a final decision will be made next week.

Disappointing Tottenham Hotspur loan spell
Fernandes joined Tottenham on an 18-month loan deal from Benfica in January 2020.
Much was expected of the youngster at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but the attacking player has failed to do much of note.
According to WhoScored, the 22-year-old has played once each in the FA Cup and the EFL Cup so far this season, and during the second half of the 2019-20 campaign, he made seven substitute appearances in the Premier League.
Romano’s report that a decision will be made next week suggests that details are still to be finalised between Torino, Benfica and Fernandes, but it does seem likely that he will not be at Spurs for much longer.
