Billie Eilish and Rosalía have dropped the video to their much-awaited single ‘Lo Vas A Olvidar’ but does Billie speak Spanish?
Following ongoing speculations from earlier this month and before, Billie Eilish and Rosalía have finally released their much-anticipated single.
In 2019, Rosalía revealed that she was collaborating on a track with Billie as part of her third album, and fans are very excited that their collab has been revealed.
The duo sings in Spanish in their new single but does Billie speak Spanish? Let’s find out.
Billie Eilish and Rosalía release a song
On Thursday, January 21st, Billie and Rosalía released the video to ‘Lo Vas A Olvidar’, which translates into English as “you will forget them”.
This is Billie’s first single since her most recent single ‘Therefore I Am’, while Rosalía previously teamed up with The Weeknd for a remix of his hit single ‘Blinding Lights’.
The YouTube video to ‘Lo Vas A Olvidar’ has amassed over 8.8 million views since it premiered.
Speaking about the single, Billie told Apple Music in a virtual interview:
“This is like the longest lead-up on Earth. We wrote most of the song in January of 2019. It’s been a long time. I’m so excited.”
Can Billie Eilish speak Spanish?
Billie has previously revealed that she doesn’t speak Spanish.
A few years ago, Billie posted a video of herself singing a cover of Carla Morrison’s ‘Eres Tu’, which is when her fans started wondering is she knows the language.
However, following the cover, Billie revealed that she doesn’t actually speak Spanish, which shocked a lot of fans as her pronunciation was absolutely perfect.
In the same interview with Apple Music, she admitted:
“I don’t really know what I’m saying. I’m not enunciating in the same way I would with my own stuff.”
Billie also added that she was worried about whether she sings well in Spanish and Rosalía was quick to reassure her, saying: “You sound completely natural.”
