According to The Telegraph, Wolves could land Juventus dynamo Douglas Costa this month, having been offered the chance to sign the forward.
The 30-year-old – who is currently on loan at Bayern Munich – is finding game-time hard to come by under Hansi Flick this season.
The Brazil international has started just three Bundesliga games, and has totalled nine appearances in Germany’s top-flight this term.
In fairness to Costa, it must be difficult competing with the likes of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman.
Interestingly, The Telegraph say that his loan to Bayern Munich could be cut short if the right opportunity arises for the Sapucaia do Sul-born attacker.
Crucially, The Telegraph add that any move to the Premier League would initially be a loan.
So, what type of player is Costa?
Well, before the South American left Shakhtar Donetsk to join Bayern Munich, his manager – Mircea Lucescu – made an interesting comparison.
The Bundesliga’s official website quotes Lucescu as saying: “I see him in [Arjen] Robben’s position. He’s just 24 and can reach Robben’s level in the years to come.
“He’s a very strong player, naturally left-footed but can play on the right too. And he is ruthless and unstoppable when cutting in from the wings. He’s on the same level as James Rodriguez.”
To be likened to Robben and Rodriguez in the same breath is very high praise indeed.
As The Telegraph state, Costa can play anywhere across the frontline.
In that respect, he could be a useful addition to Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad.
