AC Milan are hoping to steal a march on Leicester City in the race to sign Porto midfielder Otavio, with Alfredo Pedulla reporting that he has been offered a four-year contract at the San Siro.
Like Brendan Rodgers’ ravenous Foxes, a youthful AC Milan side have emerged as genuine dark-horses for the league title after a superb start to 2020/21.
With glory in their sights, the opportunity to bring in a top-quality creative midfielder on a cut-price fee during the January transfer window feels too good to miss.
Tuttomercatoweb reported earlier this week that Leicester have made an offer for Otavio, with the technically-gifted Brazilian due to become a free agent in the summer.
Otavio produced 15 assists in 2019/20 as Porto wrestled the Primeira Liga title back from bitter rivals Benfica, and he would be a fine replacement for the stricken Dennis Praet in Rodgers’ midfield.
Like the Belgian, Otavio is a versatile, energetic midfielder capable of playing through the middle or out wide.
The 25-year-old was also compared to the former Chelsea star Oscar during his formative years at Internacional.
Alfredo Pedulla reports that AC Milan are still very much in the race for Otavio’s signature, proposing a four-year contract worth £25,000-a-week at the San Siro.
Given the riches on offer in the Premier League, you’d imagine that Leicester would not struggle to better that offer.
£25,000-a-week would put Otavio in line with the likes of Daniel Amartey and Danny Ward at the King Power (Spotrac).
