Speaking on the official Leeds United Podcast, Patrick Bamford has shared the feelings of the Leeds United squad after losing to Brighton at the weekend.
It’s fair to say that Leeds weren’t at their best against the Seagulls, failing to craft out many chances and looking rather flat up top.
Bamford says that the squad were very frustrated after the game, but the players were quick to make excuses for their poor showing, blaming the pitch.
“It was a frustrating game, you’re right, a 0-0 was probably the right result there because I don’t think either team did enough to win it even though Brighton obviously came out winners,” Bamford said.
The striker was then asked about the mood within the camp after the game, to which he responded:
“Yeah we were frustrated after the game in the changing room and I think everyone was a bit down because we knew that that performance was, and we were all blaming the pitch and saying how shocking it was, but we knew that we weren’t good enough ourselves.”

Leeds weren’t at their best, and while the pitch can be blamed for that, Brighton also had to deal with it.
Both Marcelo Bielsa and Graham Potter like to favour a style that utilises a lot of passing, so the pitch will have been a factor for both teams.
However, if we’re being fair, we have to say that the pitch wasn’t up to scratch. The heavy snowfall in Leeds last week left the groundsman with a lot of work to do, and unfortunately, it seems as though it was too tough a task.
We can only hope that the turf at Elland Road is sorted sooner rather than later as Leeds have to play there every other week, and if it’s affecting them this badly, it will soon become a problem.
