Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they’d like to see Thomas Partey be handed the No.5 shirt, after Sokratis Papastathopoulos departed.
The Greece international’s contract was mutually terminated on Wednesday afternoon, bringing an end to his two-and-a-half year stint at the Emirates following a £17.7 million move from Borussia Dortmund.

After his departure, a number of Arsenal fans revealed their hopes for his now-vacated shirt number.
Of course, Partey wore the No.5 shirt during his time with Atletico Madrid, and has also worn it while playing for the Ghana national team.
It would make sense, in that respect, although those who have purchased his No.18 shirt probably wouldn’t be too happy!

The topic of shirt numbers is very hot at the Emirates right now.
Following Mesut Ozil’s departure, Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were seen joking on Instagram about who would take the vacant No.10 shirt.
There are certainly a few stellar shirt numbers up for grabs this summer when Arsenal set about organising that aspect of their administrative work.
It remains to be seen who gets which number, although we’re expecting a few changes to be made in that department ahead of next term.
Let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Partey potentially getting his hands on the No.5 shirt…
Most definitely. I would have liked Thomas to wear the No.4 shirt like Vieira did, but he likes the No.5, so we have to give him the No.5 shirt.
