West Brom fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club officially announced the departure of Rekeem Harper to Birmingham.
The 20-year-old will spend the remainder of the campaign on loan at St Andrew’s, where he will look to help Aitor Karanka’s side finish as strongly as possible.
Harper simply wasn’t getting enough game time at the Hawthorns.
Harper’s only starts have come in the Carabao Cup, having started – and scored – against Harrogate Town, while also starting against Brentford.
It’s the second time that the Birmingham-born midfielder has left West Brom on loan.
Harper spent time with Blackburn Rovers between August 2017 and January 2018, so he’ll be familiar with what’s required from a loanee.
Sam Allardyce has handed Harper just nine minutes of football since he replaced Slaven Bilic, so his prospects of first-team football between now and the summer were slim.
Additionally, the signing of Robert Snodgrass pushed him down the pecking order even further.
Hopefully, Karanka gives Harper plenty of action, as Birmingham look to stay in the Championship.
Let’s see what the West Brom fans on Twitter have been saying about his exit…
Abit gutted about this as was hoping he would get an opportunity in first team. Always rated him and there is definitely a Premiership player in there— Matty Hollis (@MattyHollis) January 21, 2021
Keep giving players away and not signing! Slightly worrying. https://t.co/prBBknvm3f— tomhunt (@TomHuntWBA) January 21, 2021
Hopefully this is where he really pushes on, top class player https://t.co/D9yBxDVfkp— Liam Connolly (@liam_connolly7) January 21, 2021
