Episode 4 of NCIS season 18 saw McGee and his wife venture to The Bahamas but just what happened to Delilah on NCIS and why does she use a wheelchair?
Now in its 18th season, NCIS has been running since 2003 and, as a result, it’s safe to say that we’ve grown quite attached to the show’s characters.
At the time of writing, Sean Murray has taken on the role of Tim McGee in 388 episodes and in episode 4 of season 18, Tim takes center stage alongside his wife, Delilah.
However, while Tim has appeared in almost 400 episodes, Delilah has only been seen in 16 episodes, the last of which – prior to season 18 – came in February 2019.
As a result, when Delilah starred alongside Tim in season 18, episode 4, a number of fans were left asking ‘what happened to Delilah and why does she need to use a wheelchair?’
NCIS recap: Sunburn
In episode 4 of season 18, McGee has been ordered to take a vacation after his endless workload and stressing over young twins has left him on the verge of exhaustion.
McGee and his wife Delilah spend the episode in The Bahamas and initially agree to put all talk of work and the kids on hold.
However, it’s not long before McGee is contacted by the team back in Washington who are investigating a double murder and have a lead for McGee to look into in The Bahamas.
Delilah insists on working on the case with her husband and in the process, the two realize that despite the distractions of work and kids, the two still love each other very much.
What happened to Delilah on NCIS?
- Delilah has used a wheelchair ever since season 11 owing to an injury she sustained in the episodes Kill Chain and Double Back.
Delilah Fielding was first introduced to NCIS in the season 11 episode, Whiskey Tango Foxtrot after McGee secretly started dating her at the end of season 10.
However, only a few episodes into her stint on NCIS, Delilah was put into grave danger and she was badly injured by a missile attack on a black-tie event she attended with McGee.
While McGee was left unharmed, Delilah was left permanently paralyzed due to shrapnel embedded in her spine and ever since has used a wheelchair.
Her injury couldn’t get in the way of her relationship with McGee, though, and after she spent a year away in Dubai, she returned to Washington where she and McGee married and later had twins.
