Sir Kenny Dalglish has told the Kenn7Dalglish Youtube channel that he thinks Liverpool’s Takumi Minamino could get some much needed game time soon.
Minamino has been excluded from Liverpool’s team recently, and has struggled badly for minutes.
The £7 million Japanese international (Sky) looked one of Liverpool’s brightest players in pre-season, but his first full campaign at the club has not gone according to plan so far.
Minamino has made just two starts for Liverpool in the Premier League, and he has not featured in any of their last four league games.
But Dalglish is expecting Klopp to call upon him and a number of other fringe players this weekend, when Liverpool take on Manchester United in the FA Cup.
“It’ll be interesting to see what happens next week at Old Trafford,” he said.
“There might be a few of the boys coming back who need a game.
“The boys who never play like Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones – he’ll get a game. Minamino will get a game. So it’ll be a strong team, but it’ll be interesting to see what he does at centre-back.”
If Liverpool do rotate their team then it could be an opportunity for their fringe players to stake a claim for a place in the squad.
The Reds have not looked at their best in recent weeks, meaning there could be places up for grabs if players do impress on Sunday.
Liverpool have failed to score in any of their last four Premier League games, so Minamino will surely feel confident of getting picked again if he can find the back of the net.
