Some Leeds United fans on Twitter have named Carlos Corberan as their dream Marcelo Bielsa successor.
The Spanish coach of course worked at Leeds for a number of years as U23s manager and Marcelo Bielsa’s right-hand man, and once again he has been brought to the forefront of some Leeds fans’ minds.
Indeed, Phil Hay carried out an interview with Romario Vieira for The Athletic this week, and the former Leeds player had a number of good things to say about Corberan.
Jose Mourinho’s 7 Worst Signings of All Time
“He changed me as a player, for way, way better,” Romario told The Athletic. “Honestly, that guy — if he’s not the next Bielsa or (Pep) Guardiola, I’ll be surprised.”

As you can imagine, such comments caused a bit of a stir amongst the Leeds fanbase, and fans were quickly calling for him to replace Bielsa one day.
Of course, nobody wants to imagine Leeds United without Bielsa at the helm, but the fact of the matter is that he’s not getting any younger, and he will unfortunately need replacing one day.
The current Huddersfield manager certainly knows the club, and fans believe he would be a prime candidate.
Here’s what Leeds fans have been saying about Corberan on social media…
Just read Viera’s comments on Corberan. Anyone else want him to replace Bielsa one day? He’d be perfect.

I’d like a decade of Bielsa and then a decade of Corberan please.

I’ve been saying for a while Carlos needs to come back and replace Bielsa when he’s had enough.

If Corberan can improve Hudds, get them into say play offs and promoted within the next couple of seasons, then I’d be happy with that. Still needs to prove it for me.
Biggest issue for me when Bielsa goes, is we have have players so used to a very strict style— Sam (@samuelsibeko) January 19, 2021
That’s why I was sad when he left, but when you feel you’re ready and its your time to fly the nest? 🤷♂
Good luck to him, until the time comes, hopefully in a few years yet. 🤞— Paul hazelgrave (@hazelgrave_paul) January 19, 2021
He knows the players, the system, the club.✅✅✅
It’s wether he has the experience and the confidence and more importantly if the players would have confidence and faith in him, to go that extra mile.
On the world stage he might not be able to attract the calibre of player tho?— Sam (@samuelsibeko) January 19, 2021
