Pokémon Go has had a busy start to the new year as Niantic continues to build hype towards next month’s Kanto Tour. There is a Hoenn event that is live right now, and Kyogre and Groudon have  returned to Raids, but there is also a Shroomish spotlight hour happening today. Some people are asking if Shroomish is Shiny in Pokémon Go, and here you’ll discover if it can be Shiny, and you’ll also find the spotlight hour time and rewards.

The ultimate end goal for all the Sinnoh and Hoenn focused events is the Kanto Tour scheduled for February. While we still have a relatively significant amount of time until it begins, the Legendary Raids and Mega bosses for January will culminate with a surprise encounter on the 26th following Kyogre and Groudon’s disappearance.

Although there’s plenty to look forward to in the very near future, below you’ll discover if Shroomish is Shiny during its upcoming spotlight hour in Pokémon Go.

What time is the Pokémon Go Shroomish spotlight hour?

The Shroomish spotlight hour in Pokémon Go begins at 18:00 local time on January 19th.

While it begins at the above hour, the Shroomish spotlight hour in Pokémon Go will then finish at 19:00 local time on the same day.

The rewards for the event include 2x Candy per catch of the focused creature. This’ll help you get enough Candy to evolve the Grass-type creature into Breloom.

However, while the Candy is significant enough, there’s also a Stardust boost. Per Pokémon Go Hub, the featured creature has had its Stardust reward adjusted for catching, meaning the base catch reward is 500 Stardust rather than just 100.

But, there is disappointing news to be found below.

Can Shroomish be Shiny in Pokémon Go?

Shroomish cannot be Shiny in Pokémon Go during its spotlight hour.

There is no Shiny Shroomish available during its Pokémon Go spotlight hour, meaning you cannot catch a special variant of the Grass-type creature.

While it’s disappointing that there is no special version available, you’ll still want to participate in the event for its Stardust bonus as well as Candy.

You only need 50 Shroomish Candy to evolve it into Breloom, but – again – the Stardust boost is the main attraction.
