Arsenal continue to be linked with playmakers for this month’s transfer window, though Emile Smith Rowe’s progress may just alter any signing plans.

Smith Rowe has been outstanding of late, and Arsenal’s need for a new number 10 has been somewhat eased by his performances.

Still, adding a player who can play out wide or as a number 10 that can provide some guile and creativity would be valuable, and Emiliano Buendia is a name that keeps coming up.

He shares an agent with ex-Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, and The Mirror recently reported that Arsenal do want Buendia, but can’t afford his £40million price tag right now.

Norwich look a firm bet for promotion back to the Premier League though, and if they do go up, they surely won’t be selling Buendia any time soon.

Buendia, 23, was a creative force in the Premier League last season, as only Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jack Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne carved out more chances.

The Argentinian could be just what Arsenal are looking for, but Canaries boss Daniel Farke seems very confident that no deal will be happening this month.

Farke has told Sky Sports that he is 99% sure that Buendia won’t be joining Arsenal this month, as whilst the Gunners are ‘one of the best in this country’, it makes no sense for Norwich to sell now.

“No, nothing will happen,” said Farke. “In this business you can never say 100 per cent guarantee, but I would label it 99 per cent. It makes no sense for any of my key players to leave at this moment. And it makes no sense for us as a club right now to sell any of my players.”

“These players have the potential to play for one of the best clubs in this country, and Arsenal [are] definitely one of the best in this country and also Europe. They have the potential to play there one day, but it makes no sense in January. Let’s be honest we are in a great position,” he added.
