Junior Firpo would prefer the Premier League to Serie A after the Barcelona defender’s agent offered him to West Ham United, as reported by CalcioNapoli24.
The former Real Betis flyer has featured in three of Barca’s last five La Liga matches. But do not make the mistake in assuming Ronald Koeman has been won over by a left-back who hasn’t come close to justifying his £16 million price-tag at the Camp Nou.
Just one of those three appearances came from the start after all. And, according to Marca, the La Liga giants are now in the process of identifying replacements.
Valencia’s Jose Luis Gaya, former Leeds loanee Alfonso Pedraza and the suddenly-prolific Angelino of RB Leipzig are all targets.
CalcioNapoli24 report that Firpo’s agent is now hard at work, looking to find a club willing to take his client off Barcelona’s books.
Napoli and West Ham have been offered the chance to sign the former Spain U21 international. And, given the choice, Firpo would choose the London Stadium over the Stadio San Paolo.
Whether West Ham take up the chance to sign the 24-year-old remains to be seen.
Mundo Deportivo did claim a few weeks ago that David Moyes is a big fan of Firpo and would be tempted by the opportunity to land the Dominican-born speedster on an initial loan deal.
But with West Ham prioritising a new striker this month, Firpo is hardly the number one target.
