Many will be familiar with the life of Phil Spector, the former US music producer.
On Monday, January 18th 2021, the BBC reported that he has passed away while serving a prison sentence for murder. He was 81.
He had worked with musicians from The Beatles to Tina Turner and is generally regarded as an individual who changed the very face of pop music, producing 20 top 40 hits between 1961 and 1965.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation confirmed his death: “California Health Care Facility inmate Phillip Spector was pronounced deceased of natural causes at 6:35 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, 2021, at an outside hospital. His official cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner in the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office.”
