Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that he thought Tanguy Ndombele was ‘very, very complete’ against Sheffield United.
Spurs made the trip to South Yorkshire on Sunday afternoon seeking a much-needed win after just one league victory in their last six outings.
The 1-1 draw with Fulham was frustrating too, but Spurs were 2-0 up at the break with Serge Aurier and Harry Kane on the scoresheet.
David McGoldrick gave Sheffield United hope, but Ndombele then produced the moment of the game with a stunning third.
Ndombele latched onto a dinked Steven Bergwijn pass to lob Aaron Ramsdale with an unbelievable finish, somehow taking a ball that was running away from goal and looping it into the net.
This was just another sign of the quality Ndombele possesses, as he also showed his quality in possession by being so press-resistant thanks to his ability to carry the ball under pressure.
After Sunday’s game, Mourinho heaped praise on 24-year-old Ndombele, suggesting that his performance was ‘very, very complete’.
The Frenchman’s spell under Mourinho hasn’t always been smooth, but the Spurs boss praised him for his fitness and his quality on the ball, highlighting how important he has finally become to Tottenham.
“It’s the second or third time he has played 90 minutes and 90 minutes of a game with high intensity because Sheffield United is a team that plays high intensity football, we play high intensity football, we press very, very high, not easy for our midfielders to cope for 90 mins with the intensity of the game.”
“He did that and apart from that he was very, very good on creation, transporting the game, coming out on transitions, trying to assist attacking players. His performance was very, very complete,” he added.
