There’s been some confusion about whether Hitman 3 does come with 1 and 2 on PC thanks to its Epic Games exclusivity, and IO Interactive have responded to the community’s understandable confusion and annoyance.
It was recently reported by others that Hitman 3 would not come with 1 and 2 on PC for those who owned the games on Steam, and this was expected to be the case because of the third instalment being exclusive to the Epic Games store for a year.
However, IO Interactive have since posted on Twitter that they are working towards a solution so that owners of the previous two games on Steam can still import the levels at no added cost.
The developer has promised that players will not need to repurchase the prior two instalments, but the levels from both games will not be available to import at launch.
To make up for this, Hitman 1 GOTY Access Pass will be free to own for all PC players who purchase Hitman 3 within the first ten days after its release.
Hitman 3 comes out in just under two weeks, and the third instalment has been dubbed a ‘victory lap for IO’s series’. The games have received a lot of the praise over the past few years and have thus garnered a fandom, but the third instalment will still be the very first for many people. This has resulted in people asking does Hitman 3 come with 1 and 2, and here you’ll discover the answer as well as an explanation of the different editions to pre-order.
Unlike the past two games, the third instalment of IO’s series boasts PSVR which has been shown off in a sandbox trailer. The implementation of virtual reality has gotten lots of people excited as now you’ll be able to actually step into the shoes of Agent 47 rather than always follow him in third-person view with his glaringly obvious barcode on the back of his perfectly shaved bald head.
Whether you plan to play the game with PSVR or via the more traditional third-person, below you’ll discover if Hitman 3 does come with 1 and 2.
Hitman 3 pre-order
You can pre-order Hitman 3 before its January 20th release date.
When it comes to whether or not you pre-order Hitman 3, you should know the differences between the Standard Edition and Deluxe.
The Standard Edition (£54.99) comes with the game plus a Trinity Pack provided you purchase the game before its release date. This Trinity Pack is essentially red, white, and black suits with matching guns, shoes, and briefcases.
As for the Deluxe Edition (£74.99), it comes with the following (via PSN store):
- Deluxe Suits and Items
- Digital Soundtracks
- Digital ‘World of Hitman’ book
- Director commentary
- Deluxe Escalation contracts
- Trinity Pack (pre-order)
Know that the game has a free upgrade available for the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, know that PSVR is not compatible with the PS5 version of the game.
With that being said, if you buy the game on PS5 you’ll still receive it on PS4, and last-gen is where you’ll be able to play the game in PSVR.
Will Hitman 3 have 1 and 2?
Hitman 3 does have locations from 1 and 2 for existing owners (update: the option to import levels from 1 and 2 will not be available at launch on PC).
Per the game’s website, Hitman 3 will have locations from 1 and 2 for existing owners of said titles, and progression from the second game will be directly carried over.
The above comes at no added expense, but it’s for existing owners only.
This means you will not get all the locations from the first and second game if you have not purchased the experiences in the past.
With the trilogy available via the third game, the size will be reduced to under 100GB and the old levels will be given a visual upgrade.
