Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have offered a mix reaction to some Fabrizio Romano news about Erik Lamela.
Lamela has been yoyo-ing in and out of the treatment room at Hotspur Way this season – and for much of the past two or three years, if we’re honest.
There was speculation about the Argentina international leaving Tottenham this month.
But the reliable Italian journalist has revealed on Twitter that the former Roma winger is completely focused on helping Jose Mourinho’s side.
Since arriving in North London for £30 million in 2013, Lamela has been a divisive player among the supporters.
Some are big fans of his work ethic and industry, while others believe that 16 goals and 23 assists from 161 Premier League games is a dismal return for an attacking player for a club like the Lilywhites.
Here’s how some supporters reacted to Romano’s revelation on Saturday afternoon:
Given that Moussa Sissoko played ahead of him out wide in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, it’s a good example as to how much Mourinho doesn’t trust him that much.
Yes, Mourinho also played Sissoko ahead of Gareth Bale and Lucas Moura, but that shouldn’t make Lamela feel any better.
If an offer does come in for the 28-year-old, he should seriously consider it.
