Mesut Ozil is on his way to Fenerbahce, meaning that the number 10 shirt at Arsenal is up for grabs.
The former Real Madrid attacking midfielder and Fenerbahce have been posting images on Twitter today, and it seems that the transfer will be finalised soon.
Arsenal strikers Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have been trying to get the number 10 shirt now that it is available.
Aubameyang wanted it, but it seems that Lacazette has ‘won the battle’ for the number 10 shirt.
The France international striker has sent a message to Ozil on Instagram saying that he will take good care of the number 10 shirt, as shown below.
Moving on
Ozil has not played for Arsenal since March 2020, and it seems that manager Mikel Arteta has moved on and has built a team without the German.
The attacking midfielder did well in the initial years after joining from Madrid in 2013, but in recent years he has not always been at his best.
Emile Smith Rowe is fast emerging as a reliable option in attacking midfield, and perhaps Arsenal will not miss Ozil in the long run.
