Arsenal have made an offer to Neto, but the Barcelona goalkeeper does not want to move to the Emirates Stadium if he is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup, according to Mundo Deportivo.
It has been reported by the Spanish news outlet that Arsenal have offered Neto the chance to move to the Gunners and fight for his place in the starting lineup with current first-choice goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
The report has added that the 31-year-old goalkeeper – who has ‘a large presence between the sticks’, according to a statement on Barcelona’s official website in June 2019 – wants the Gunners to guarantee him a regular spot in goal before making a decision.
Unlikely Arsenal transfer?
Neto cost Barcelona €26 million (£23.11 million) in transfer fees when they signed him from Valencia in the summer of 2019, as announced on the Blaugrana’s official website.
The Brazil international is the second-choice goalkeeper behind Marc-Andre ter Stegen at Barca.
There is no point in Neto swapping Barcelona for Arsenal if he is going to warm the substitutes’ bench at the Emirates Stadium.
According to WhoScored, Neto has played six times in La Liga and thrice in the Champions League this season, while in 2019-20, he made two appearances in La Liga and once in the Champions League for Barcelona.
