Some West Brom fans on social media have been gushing over the performance of Kyle Bartley against Wolves.
Bartley’s centre-back partner may get all of the headlines for his goalscoring antics, but Bartley’s defensive output played just as vital a role in West Brom winning the Black Country derby.
The one moment that standouts above all others was his late block from a long-range shot that seemed goalbound, but it was just an incredible 90 minutes from the former Swansea City man.

Bartley managed to grab an assist for Ajayi’s goal as well, but it was definitely his defensive stats that stand out.

- ‘Absolutely monstrous, Immense’: Some West Brom fans rave over ‘mountain’
The 29-year-old was quick to snuff out any danger that Wolves posed, making a mammoth eight clearances, while he also blocked four shots, and if any of those had made it past him we may have been talking about a very different result.
Sam Allardyce’s teams are often built on defensive solidity and workrate, and Bartley certainly showed he’s suited to that style with his performance today.
As you can imagine, fans were waxing lyrical over the centre-back.

Bartley was an absolute mountain in that second half. One of the best halves I’ve ever seen from an Albion CB and what an occasion for it. Stuff of legends right there!
