Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur will not sell Erik Lamela in the January transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist, who works for The Guardian and SkySport, has said that Lamela is not planning to leave Tottenham in the January transfer window.
The Argentina international attacking midfielder is appreciated by clubs in Italy, but the 28-year-old is focused on Spurs at the moment, according to Romano.
Romano has added that Tottenham will not sell Lamela, who can also operate as a winger, this month.
Earlier this month, Eurosport reported that Tottenham are open to offers for Lamela – who cost Spurs €25 million (£22.22 million) in transfer fees when they signed him from AS Roma in the summer of 2013, as reported by The Guardian.
Tottenham Hotspur stay
Lamela has had injury problems during his time at Tottenham and is not guaranteed a place in the starting lineup.
However, Spurs will need a big and strong squad to compete for the Premier League title and the Europa League this season.
Lamela does give Spurs head coach Jose Mourinho another option, and it would make sense for the North London club to keep hold of the 28-year-old for the rest of the season at least.
