Mundo Deportivo reported in December 2020 that West Ham are interested in signing Firpo from Barcelona in the January transfer window.
The report claimed that the Hammers have made contact with the Spanish and European giants over a potential transfer of the 24-year-old left-back, who was described as a player with ‘great promise’ on Barcelona’s official website in August 2019.
Gianlucadimarzio.com has now reported that Napoli are interested in the 24-year-old, and that Barcelona are willing to send him out on loan.
Junior Firpo’s Barcelona spell
Firpo has been on the books of Barcelona since the summer of 2019 when he joined from Real Betis for a transfer fee reported on the Blaugrana’s official website to be worth €18 million (£16 million).
According to WhoScored, the former Spain Under-21 international left-back has made one start and three substitute appearances in La Liga and has made one start and four substitute appearances in the Champions League for Barcelona so far this season.
During the 2019-20 campaign, Firpo made 11 starts and six substitute appearances in the league and made three starts and one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Spanish giants, according to WhoScored.
Bringing in Firpo on loan for the rest of the season would not be a bad idea for the Hammers.
