Tim Vickery has expressed his surprise on Transfer Talk on Sky Sports (13/01/21 at 1:20 pm) at Premier League clubs such as West Ham and Wolves not punting for Diego Costa.

The two-time Premier League winner is currently a free agent after he left Atletico Madrid and South American football expert suggested he would be. a ‘perfect January buy’ for the likes of West Ham and Wolves.

The Daily Mail have previously linked Wolves’ name to Costa’s given that they need a replacement for Raul Jimenez, whilst West Ham need options up top after selling Sebastien Haller.

Nonetheless, Vickery was asked about Costa’s situation and why he cannot seem to find a club.

“You would have thought that he would have been a perfect January buy for those clubs who are struggling to score goals,” said Vickery.

“Wolves in the absence of injury with Jimenez would seem like an obvious fit or maybe even West Ham after Haller didn’t quite come off with them.

“I suppose the only real doubt with Diego Costa is whether, at the age of 32, he is physically capable of doing what he did a few years earlier in the Premier League with Chelsea.”

Costa seems to be a perfect fit for both Wolves and West Ham, but the stumbling block could be putting the money on the table in regards to his wages.

His goalscoring record in the Premier League, his all-action and aggressive style would elevate both those in London and the Midlands.

Wolves just need that experience up top and someone who can bully the opposition and you could see the players around him, such as Neto, taking their game to the next level with him in the starting XI.
