Manchester City picked up another win and another clean sheet on Wednesday night, beating Brighton and Hove Albion 1-0.

Pep Guardiola’s men have been in fine form of late, winning five of their previous seven league games before welcoming Brighton to the Etihad Stadium.

This wasn’t vintage City, and the win won’t exactly live long in the memory, but the three points are all that matter.

Phil Foden scored the only goal of the game, as he collected a fine pass from Kevin De Bruyne, beat one man with a fine touch and buried his strike beyond Robert Sanchez.

City did everything but score after the break; Riyad Mahrez fired wide, Ilkay Gundogan had an effort saved, Bernardo Silva hit the woodwork and Raheem Sterling blazed a penalty over the bar, but Brighton couldn’t make them pay.

Guardiola will likely want to just move on and forget about this game beyond the three points, but City fans did find some positives.

Midfielder Rodri has been criticised massively at times this season, with some far from impressed with his performances, but that wasn’t the case last night.

Supporters took to Twitter to hail Rodri, suggesting that the £63million Spaniard was ‘unbelievable’ and ‘immense’, claiming that he deserves more praise than he gets.

Others admitted they’re starting to rate Rodri, having turned in a performance that was ‘better than usual’ against Brighton.
