Liverpool fans do not exactly appear keen on claims from Fabrizio Romano that they could make a move for Renato Sanches in the summer.

Romano claimed on the Here We Go Podcast that Liverpool may be interested in the central midfielder, as they look to bolster their options.

However, Sanches’s standing in the English game isn’t particularly strong – after an indifferent spell with Swansea City earlier in his career.

And Liverpool fans do not seem keen on the idea of Sanches signing for them any time soon.

In fairness to Sanches he has gone away and clearly improved as a player during his time at Lille.

The 23-year-old has impressed in Ligue 1, but whether he is exactly what Liverpool need is up for debate.

Sanches does have the energy to fit into Liverpool’s high pressing system, but whether he would inject the creativity they have lacked at times this season is doubtful.

If Sanches did arrive Georginio Wijnaldum’s future would also be placed into doubt.

Wijnaldum has just months remaining on his contract, and Sanches could be viewed as a long term replacement for the Dutchman.
