Speaking on the Here We Go Podcast, Fabrizio Romano has given us an update on the transfer status of Everton winger Bernard.
The Brazilian has been strongly linked with a move to Roma, but Romano now claims that no bid for the ex-Shakhtar man has gone in from the Italian outfit.
“Bernard, that is a name that is spreading a lot, rumours are spreading a lot. A lot of rumours about Roma?” Romano’s co-host asked.
The journalist then gave an update on Roma’s interest in Bernard, while also divulging the Toffees’ asking price for the Brazilian.
“Yes, a lot of rumours just because Fonseca the manager of Roma likes the player, but at the moment, Roma have not done any bid to Everton.
“Everton are still waiting because if they sell Bernard anything can happen with new signings, so we have to understand what is going on, but at the moment nothing is advanced with Roma, he is one of the options, but not the first one and Roma are still waiting to make a bid.
“What I want to add is the price of Bernard, they want €10m (£8.9m) to sell Bernard, so let’s see in the coming weeks if someone will arrive with this kind of bid or with an obligation to buy.”
It’s interesting to hear this, especially after there were reported of a swap deal involving Robin Olsen and Roma.
Of course, that isn’t to say that an Olsen and Bernard swap is impossible, after all, some very credible journalists have reported that story, but it’s worth noting that Romano says Everton will accept a bid worth £8.9m.
It remains to be seen whether or not any teams will cough up the cash to land Bernard this month, but it seems as though Everton are certainly ready to sell.
