This Is Us fans have been left asking “who plays Aunt Mae on This Is Us?” after the NBC series welcomed a familiar face to the cast of season 5, episode 6.

Throughout its first five seasons, This Is Us has regularly welcomed famous faces to its cast in one-off appearances.

The same can be said in episode 6 of season 5 which sees Randall learn more about his past and elusive birth mother.

As well as meeting Randall’s birth mother, Laurel, fans are also introduced to the character of Aunt Mae, but just who plays her in This Is Us season 5?

This Is Us season 5, episode 6 aired on NBC on January 12th, 2021.

Titled Birth Mother, the episode – which is a continuation from the season 1 episode Memphis – sees Randall and Beth take a trip to New Orleans in the hopes of learning more about Randall’s birth mother, Laurel.

In New Orleans, the pair meet Hai, a man who was once in love with Laurel, who answers questions about Randall’s birth mother that Randall didn’t even know to ask himself.

After leaving the family home to move to Pittsburgh, Laurel ended up moving back to New Orleans and lived with Aunt Mae for a time.
