Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has lavished praise upon Aston Villa ace Louie Barry.

The teenager has been making headlines this week after scoring on his first-team debut for Villa, and Ian Wright has now given his view on the emerging talent.

Wright is clearly a fan of the teenager after watching his debut, and he’s claimed he can’t wait to see him step back onto the pitch again.

“The way he took the chance was just so clinical, it was an amazingly clinical finish. You know what’s happened with him there Jeanette? He’s gone through and he’s slipped back to as if he was playing a youth game or anything,” Wright said.

“Obviously, you have to think if a massive crown was in there he wouldn’t be playing, let’s face it. Because if we weren’t at the stage we are he wouldn’t beplaying.

“So again, we can say whatever we want about Covid and how negative it has been and how people are not playing, but now we get to see Louie Barry, because now, what I’ve seen of him is enough to say, boy I wouldn’t mind seeing him again.”

This is massive praise for Barry.

He’s only played once for Villa, but he’s already made his mark on the wider footballing world, and now Wright has earmarked him as a player he wants to watch more regularly.

Whether or not we’re going to see the youngster play again this season remains to be seen, but Wright is certainly hoping that Dean Smith gives him a chance going forward.

We can’t help but agree with Wright’s view, Barry looks like a real talent, and we can only hope he’s allowed to blossom at Villa Park in the coming months.
