Is a Red Notice release date confirmed? When is the movie on Netflix? This forthcoming action-comedy stars Dwayne Johnson and Gal Gadot.
Considering cinemas were temporarily closed for much of 2020, streaming services played an essential role in the lives of movie fans everywhere.
Fortunately, Netflix offered subscribers a wealth of titles throughout the year, delivering anticipated efforts from such lauded filmmakers as Spike Lee (Da 5 Bloods), Charlie Kaufman (I’m Thinking of Ending Things), David Fincher (Mank), Aaron Sorkin (The Trial of the Chicago 7) and more.
Well, there are certainly no signs of slowing down in 2021!
The service has already rolled out such films as Kornél Mundruczó’s Pieces of a Woman, and they recently unveiled a trailer teasing their movie slate for the year.
As highlighted on NetflixFilm’s Twitter, they’re going to be releasing a movie every single week and their line-up includes Red Notice…
Is a Red Notice release date confirmed?
- A release date for Red Notice is yet to be confirmed, but the film will officially release on Netflix in 2021.
The film stars Dwayne Johnson, who has previously described the film as “a globetrotting film about the world’s most wanted art thief, an FBI profiler and the greatest conman the world has ever known.”
At the moment, it’s difficult to determine a potential release date. Filming shut down in March 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, but later resumed and finally came to an end in October.
It’s likely that a Netflix release date will be confirmed a month or so ahead of the date.
Some footage for the film is teased in the trailer below, along with glimpses of a number of efforts expected to make it to screens this year.
Red Notice cast
Dwayne isn’t the only A-lister set to impress in Red Notice…
The star-studded cast also boasts Ryan Reynolds, perhaps best known for playing the titular Wade Wilson in the Deadpool movies; he also starred in Detective Pikachu (voice), Life (Rory Adams) and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw (Locke).
Then we also have Gal Gadot, who recently reprised the iconic role of Wonder Woman in Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman 1984. She has appeared in numerous DCEU vehicles, as well as four Fast and Furious instalments as Gisele Yashar.
Other cast members include Ritu Arya, Chris Diamantopoulos, Ivan Mbakop, Vincenzo Amato and more.
Red Notice comes from Rawson Marshall Thurber
At the helm, we have Rawson Marshall Thurber.
The 45-year-old filmmaker has proven himself in both action and comedy genres, as well as the action-comedy sub-genre.
He most recently directed 2018’s Skyscraper and 2016’s Central Intelligence, both of which star Dwayne Johnson. Red Notice will mark their third collaboration.
Prior to these action movies, he navigated the comedy genre more strictly with 2013’s We’re the Millers and the beloved 2004 modern classic, DodgeBall: A True Underdog Story with Vince Vaughn and Ben Stiller. He also directed The Mysteries of Pittsburgh.
Red Notice promises to blend the genres which Rawson has explored before and arguably with his biggest central ensemble to date, so it’s no surprise to see that this one is already highly anticipated by general audiences.
