Season 2 of Prodigal Son began airing on Fox in the US on January 12th but when is the new season going to release on Sky One here in the UK?

Prodigal Son arrived on Sky One with a bang in 2020 and provided some much-needed entertainment in a year most of us would like to forget.

Now, in January 2021, season 2 of the serial killer drama is back on Fox in the US with episode 1 airing on January 12th.

However, fans here in the UK have been left wondering if and when season 2 of Prodigal Son will release on this side of the Atlantic.

Prodigal Son season 2 on Fox

After season 1 came to a premature end in 2020 thanks to a certain pandemic, season 2 of Prodigal Son arrived on Fox on January 12th, 2021.

The new season, set to the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic, continues the story of Malcolm Bright (Tom Payne) as fresh murder cases arise and need solving while the consulting detective must deal with his own demons.

Meanwhile, as thanks for his help in dealing with the Covid-19 outbreak, the Hannibal Lecter-esque Dr Martin Whitly (Michael Sheen) is transferred back to Claremont from the high-security facility at Rikers.

When will Prodigal Son season 2 air in the UK?

  • The UK release date for Prodigal Son season 2 has not been announced at the time of writing.

Unfortunately, fans hoping that season 2 of Prodigal Son would air at the same time in both the US and UK have not got their wish.

However, if we look back at the release of season 1, we might get some clue as to when season 2 might arrive on Sky One and Now TV.

When did season 1 air?

Here in the UK, Prodigal Son began airing on Sky One on July 28th, 2020.

This date is almost exactly three months after the final episode of season 1 was broadcast on Fox in the US.

If the new instalment is to follow the same pattern – with season 2 expected to air until around mid-June 2021 in the US – it could be around September before we get to watch Prodigal Son season 2 on Sky One but that date is purely speculative.

Prodigal Son season 2 is airing weekly on Fox in the US while fans in the UK will have to wait for the new instalment to arrive.
