There had been suggestions that Ramos would leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season, and Tottenham were one of the teams linked with a sensational swoop for the centre-back.
Ramos had been in talks for Ramos for quite some time, but Madrid were reportedly hesitant to put anything in writing due to the financial strain brought on by the ongoing pandemic.
“Real Madrid have been in a complicated economic situation, they can’t sign any players, they have asked players with expiring contracts, like Sergio Ramos and like Luka Modric, let’s wait a bit, we have to understand the situation and then we will make a bid for your contract,” Fabrizio Romano said a fortnight ago.
Unfortunately for Spurs, Madrid seem to have gotten everything in order and Ramos is now set to stay with Los Blancos.
It’s no surprise to hear this really, Ramos has been at Madrid for almost 15 years and he’s the club captain, so it was hard to believe that he was set to leave on a free transfer this summer.
Despite that, there was a slight hope that the Spaniard was set to reunite with Jose Mourinho this summer, but it seems as though Tottenham are now going to miss out on the World Cup winner.
This update should spell the end of Tottenham being linked with the Real Madrid star.
