Aston Villa are interested in signing David Brooks from Bournemouth in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported that Villa have placed Brooks high on their transfer wishlist this month.
David Brooks at Bournemouth
Brooks has been on the books of Bournemouth since the summer of 2018 when he joined from Sheffield United for a transfer reported by The Daily Echo to be worth £10 million.
The 23-year-old midfielder has made 13 starts and three substitute appearances in the Championship for the Cherries so far this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
The Wales international struggled with injury problems last season, but in 2018-19, he scored seven goals and provided five assists in 30 Premier League matches, according to WhoScored.
Good signing for Aston Villa?
Villa do have a very good midfield. Jack Grealish, John McGinn, Ross Barkley and Douglas Luiz are very capable footballers.
However, the Villans could always do with more good players, and with Barkley on loan from Chelsea at the moment, there could be space for Brooks in the team next season and beyond.
Described by Bournemouth captain Steve Cook as “probably the best player” in the Championship in The Daily Echo in November 2020, Brooks would have no problem in settling back in the Premier League with Villa if he joined them this month.
