While Among Us and Phasmophobia were two of the most popular games of 2020, there has been a huge resurgence for Rust which has dethroned Cyberpunk 2077 on the Steam top-sellers list. Lots of streamers have been playing the game, and this has resulted in people asking if Rust is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X. If you’ve hopped aboard the online bandwagon and own either of the aforementioned systems, below you’ll discover when it is coming out for console following its delay.

One of the most high profile aspects about the survival MMO is the OTV server which includes many famous streamers. It’s been dubbed the game’s equivalent to reality TV with streamers arguing and bickering to the point where people like Zuckles have been banned for metagaming xQc.

While the online scene is just drama that can easily be avoided by not watching, below you’ll discover when Rust is coming to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Series X so you can enjoy the game for yourself as opposed to just watching others.

Is Rust coming to PS4 and Xbox One?

Yes, Rust is coming to PS4 and Xbox One.

Rust was supposed to be coming to PS4 and Xbox One in 2020, but the release never materialised resulting in a delay.

With it confirmed for Sony and Microsoft’s last-gen consoles, you should be able to play it on the PS5 and Series X via backwards compatability when it becomes available.

Unfortunately, there’s no release date for consoles other than a broad release window.

When is Rust coming out for console?

Rust is coming out for console in 2021.

Again, Rust was supposed to be coming out for console back in 2020, but it has been delayed to 2021 with no quarter release announced.

A blog post was published on Double Eleven’s website back in December of last year, and this post mentions how challenging the year was due to everyone working from home.

The blog post ends with the following:

“We’re sorry that we haven’t been able to bring you Rust on console in 2020 as planned. We know from all of the messages that you’re excited to play it and we hope that with the dawn of 2021 we can restore your trust as we edge closer to being able to share something with you.”

While you can’t play Rust on PS4 or Xbox One as of this moment, you can sign up for pre-order and beta notifications over on the game’s console website.

In addition, there’s reason to believe it could come out soon as an ESRB rating for a console release has appeared online.
