Alan Shearer said on BBC One on Sunday (5:47pm, January 10, 2021) that Tottenham Hotspur duo Dele Alli and Carlos Vinicius proved a point against Marine.
The Newcastle United legend was impressed by the performances of Tottenham midfielder Alli and forward Vinicius in the first half of the FA Cup third-round tie on Sunday evening.
Vinicius scored a hat-trick for Spurs in their 5-0 win, while Alli provided an assist and played well in the middle of the park.
Shearer said on BBC One on Sunday (5:47pm, January 10, 2021): “The two players we mentioned before the game who had to prove a point have proved it, Dele Alli and Vinicius.”
Alli and Vinicius have been fringe players at Tottenham so far this season, and the run-out against Marine will have certainly boosted their confidence.
True, it was against ‘only’ Marine, but it was still a competitive match – an FA Cup tie.
England international midfielder Alli is a very good player, and he showed against Marine that he can still play an important role for Spurs.
As for Vinicius, the forward has not played much in the Premier League due to the form of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, but he showed on Sunday evening that he is a valuable option to have in the squad.
