Newcastle United are interested in signing Bournemouth striker Joshua King, according to The Sun.
The report in the British tabloid has claimed that Newcastle plan to make a move for King in the summer of 2021 when he becomes a free agent.
Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has been told to cut the spending in January, according to the report, which has added that there is no need for him to make a move for the striker now when he would be available on a free at the end of the season.
Andy Carroll, Joelinton, Callum Wilson and Dwight Gayle are the four recognised strikers in the Newcastle squad at the moment.
True, as things stand, King will become a free agent at the end of the season, but there is no guarantee that Bournemouth will not cash in on the 28-year-old striker now if they get a suitable offer.
The Sun has reported of interest in the Norway international from Everton, West Ham United and West Bromwich Albion.
According to WhoScored, King has made three starts and five substitute appearances in the Championship for Bournemouth so far this season.
