It looks like Mesut Ozil might be finally nearing the end of his time at Arsenal.

The former Germany international is heavily linked with moves to the MLS and Turkey, as he enters the final six months of his Gunners contract.

Ozil and Arsenal are said to be negotiating a termination of his existing deal to get him off the books completely.

If and when it happens, it’ll be a bittersweet day for the North London club.

On one hand, the 32-year-old’s £350,000-a-week wages are a huge burden but, by the same token, he’s a magnificently-gifted footballer.

Arsenal academy talent Daniel Ballard has been speaking to about the former Real Madrid wizard, revealing that he’s the most talented player he has seen at London Colney.

He said: “I always say Ozil is the best I’ve ever seen live or trained with. It’s like he sees everything in slow motion. The way he moves and flows with the ball is so natural. You can’t predict what he is going to do and you can’t switch off for one second or leave half a metre gap by being a bit lazy because he will pass the ball straight through it. Some of his touches and weight off pass, I’ve just never seen it before.”

Some Arsenal fans will be sad to see Ozil go too, for the same reasons Ballard mentioned – he is, on his day, a frightening talent.

But for whatever reason, Mikel Ateta banished the player from his Europa League and Premier League squad in October, meaning Ozil hasn’t kicked a ball for the Emirates Stadium side since March.

And that, it looks like, might be his final-ever game for the club.
