According to The Daily Mail, Filip Benkovic will move to OH Leuven and not Neil Lennon’s Celtic from Leicester City.

It has been reported that Benkovic is joining the Belgian club on loan from Leicester in the January transfer window.

Celtic have been interested in the central defender, according to the report, which has claimed that the 23-year-old has been discussed by the Glasgow giants.

The report has added that with manager Lennon unsure, Leicester have struck an agreement with Leuven over the Croatia international, who spent the 2018-19 campaign on loan at Celtic.

Blow for Celtic

According to The Scottish Sun, Christopher Jullien will miss the next four months due to injury.

Celtic could do with a new centre-back as cover, and Benkovic would have been a good signing in the short term.

The 23-year-old knows the club inside out and would have been hungry to make an impact, having failed to do much of note at Leicester.

It could be a missed opportunity for Celtic to sign a young centre-back and enhance their chances of catching Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
