James Pearce has delivered an interesting update on Liverpool’s reported interest in David Alaba and Sergio Ramos.

The journalist was hosting a discussion session as the Reds faced off against Aston Villa, and while Friday’s FA Cup tie was enthralling, fans wanted to know about Liverpool’s transfer plans, and as ever, Pearce was the man providing the news.

One hot topic that Reds supporters wanted to know about was Liverpool’s recent links to David Alaba and Sergio Ramos, but Pearce shot down any idea that the Merseyside club would be bringing either of those two in.

“Alaba is expected to sign for Real Madrid. LFC have no interest in Ramos. It’s silly season with rumours currently,” Pearce wrote.

It’s not too much of a surprise to hear that these two won’t be signing for Liverpool, but it is disappointing nonetheless.

Ramos isn’t a very popular figure at Anfield after injuring Mohamed Salah in the 2018 Champions League final, but even the most hardened Liverpool fan would have to admit he’s a talented defender, after all, he’s a four-time Champions League winner.

It is interesting to note that Pearce says there was never any interest in Ramos, while he didn’t say the same about Alaba.

Alaba would have been a welcomed addition. He’s another quality defender and he has two Champions League triumphs to his name, but unfortunately, it seems as though he is headed to Madrid, despite reports of Liverpool still being in the market for him.

As ever, things can change very quickly in football, and until Alaba has put pen to paper at Madrid, we can’t completely write off the idea of him joining Liverpool. Although, Pearce is usually very reliable, so it seems unlikely that he’ll be headed to the Premier League champions anytime soon.
