Speaking to GiveMeSport, Fabrizio Romano has claimed that Liverpool are working to extend the contracts of Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho, while minor negotiations have also started with the agent of Mohamed Salah.

The Reds are apparently more concentrated on Fabinho and van Dijk’s new deals than they are Salah’s, but he says the Egyptian’s agent is negotiating with the club to understand what is happening in terms of Salah’s new deal, which will be spoken about more next season.

“His (Salah’s) agent is negotiating with the club to understand what’s going on for the (new) contract. They are not negotiating right now but, for sure, the concept of Salah will be something they talk about, like in the next year,” Romano said about Salah.

The Italian then went on to mention that Liverpool are more concentrated on van Dijk and Fabinho’s contracts.

“So we will see, but, for sure, at the moment, Liverpool are really calm about the situation of Salah, they are happy with him and they are concentrating more on other players like Fabinho, Van Dijk, extending their contracts and then we will see what’s going on with Salah.”

No matter which way you look at it, this is excellent news.

Salah, Fabinho and van Dijk have been integral to Liverpool’s success in recent years, so the fact they’re looking at extending all of their contracts is brilliant.

As Romano says, Salah’s deal isn’t a pressing matter, but the fact that Liverpool are concentrated on keeping van Dijk and Fabinho at the club is excellent news.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether or not they sign new deals, but there have been no murmurs about the pair being unhappy at Anfield, so things should run quite smoothly here.
