Some Everton fans on social media have been giving a lot of credit to Abdoulaye Doucoure after the Toffees’ 2-1 win against Rotherham United in the FA Cup.
Everton supporters didn’t have much to shout about on the day as they were held to a draw in 90 minutes by the Championship relegation battlers, but a hard-fought extra-time victory has secured their place in the next round.
It was Doucoure’s goal that won Everton the game, but his performance was about more than just his goal.
Indeed, his addition in the second half added a bit of dynamism into what looked like a languid midfield for the majority of the afternoon, and he eventually managed to swing the game in Everton’s favour.
A number of supporters named him as their Man of the Match on social media, despite the fact that he didn’t start the fixture.
Everton will have to be better in the next round if they’re going to go on a cup run, but if Doucoure continues playing to these high standards, there’s every chance the Toffees can make a real go of it in the FA Cup this year.
