Newcastle United are more likely to sign Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori than Leeds United, the Athletic report.
Leeds have been strongly linked with Tomori in recent days, following on from their summer interest in the central defender.
However, it seems that Newcastle are the most interested party now, with Leeds not planning to bring in a central defender this month.
That may come as a disappointment to Leeds supporters, who felt that Tomori, who Frank Lampard described as ‘very fast’ (Goal), could have aided them over the second part of the campaign.
Leeds are currently suffering badly with injuries, with Robin Koch and Diego Llorente both on the sidelines.

However, Marcelo Bielsa apparently feels that his current squad can cope, and there are ‘no plans’ to sign a defender in the coming weeks.
Newcastle, meanwhile, look relatively well stocked in defence – but with a player of Tomori’s quality on the market, Steve Bruce’s side are weighing up whether to make an offer soon.
